Programme note
Sefapanosaurus (from the Sesotho word 'sefapano' = cross - and the Greek word 'saurus' = lizard) was an early herbivorous dinosaur, portions of which were excavated in the late 1930s in the Zastron district in South Africa, near the Lesotho border. I learnt about this around the time I met an excavator at the other end of Africa, Egyptologist Salima Ikram. I used graphic symbols in the score to represent this long extinct animal, requiring the player to wear woollen gloves to execute the required techniques on the keyboard.
